The shooting took place in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday, October 18, near Pushpa Park, according to Newswire. The report said Shroff had finished playing football and was preparing to leave when three unidentified men fired at his vehicle. Fans were gathered nearby. The Lankadeepa report also placed the incident in Juhu.

Shroff was not injured. His driver and an autorickshaw driver were hurt and taken to hospital for treatment, Newswire reported. Mumbai Police confirmed that Shroff was safe and had no gunshot injuries.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the incident fell within the Juhu Police Station’s jurisdiction and that an investigation was under way. Police were reviewing CCTV footage and trying to identify the attackers, who reportedly fled. Newswire said footage had emerged showing two men firing towards the vehicle; it did not explain how that account related to its report of three assailants.

A message circulated on social media claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but police had not confirmed the claim or determined a motive, Newswire said. Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar condemned the shooting and said he had spoken with Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti.
