Daily Mirror, ThePapare, Newswire, Ada Derana and Hiru News report that Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka will not take part in the two-Test series in Pakistan because he is recovering from a left hamstring injury. ThePapare says Sri Lanka Cricket announced that his injury had yet to heal fully.

ThePapare reports that opening batter and wicketkeeper Lahiru Udara has been added to the Test squad instead. The outlet says Udara was already in Pakistan as part of Sri Lanka’s one-day squad.

ThePapare reports that Sri Lanka’s 15-member Test squad is captained by Kusal Mendis, and that this will be his first Test series in the role. The first match is due to begin in Rawalpindi on November 9, according to ThePapare. Newswire and Hiru News also report that the two-match series starts that day.

Ada Derana reports that Pakistan left Shan Masood, Abdullah Shafique, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan out of its squad for the Sri Lanka series. ThePapare’s headline identifies Masood, Sajid and Noman as omitted, while Newswire and Hiru News report that Pakistan announced a squad for the two-Test contest.
